Out of the game for now

Did the fire get hot enough to melt the XMetal frames? I know this isn't what you're thinking about, but I feel like the frames might be ok. Just need a blast and tune. I've got a set of lenses I'd donate to the refurb.
That would make an awesome end to a tragic event. I am glad nobody was hurt.

The frames on the x-metals are not melted however they were displayed in a case and the lexan doors, sides and shelves all melted. I did manage to free my 24K XX frame, which I guess is just an XX frame at this point. I will be seeing if I can get more pieces after the content inventory is done. The house was declared a total loss and they are not allowing us to pull anything out just yet.

hope all turns out well for you friend...I am not a board regular but I frequent form time to time, until I start spending to much money then I go on hiatus...lol..

I know how I am with my glasses, I rotate a few pairs weekly and am constantly switching different pairs in my rotation....but I am glad the most important items are safe, family.....I would be glad to donate a pair or 2 of glasses that I dont wear to often to help get you back on the oakley wagon and give you something to wear and have some options...

I know having sunglasses to wear is the least most important thing on your mind to replace, but I also know from having lost a ton of things in a home fire 20 years ago, that little things like hobby items can help your spirit and your daily attitude....starting the rebuild is a tough situation but from experience, if I can offer anything it would be to take it one day at a time..(cliche, I know) but go slow and dont try to replace everything at once....we omly lost about 50% of our personal items, but it took us a few years to get to the point where we felt like we were somewhat "restocked" if that makes sense..

there were times where we would spend the weekend shopping and it just got so stressful trying to replace everything at once that we just gave up and decided that we would go slow....once we did that, our attitudes got better, and so did our relationships with friends and family....take it slow and realize that family and friends will want to help, let them...its hard but let them.....

sorry to ramble on...but reading your post brought memories back of my house fire and figured I could offer some advice....let me know if you have any questions or whatnot....its been 20 years ago so I am sure insurance and things like that have changed but I will do what I can to help if you have any questions.

hit me up with an address and I will send you out a few pairs of oakleys to get your collection back up and running.

Thanks @lidspinner for your kind words and sharing your experience. I am going through some of the same. Went shopping last weekend and it just became too stressful and overwhelming for my wife. We just had to stop and go home ( to our rental ).
We lost so much. The house was a total loss and everything on the second floor and attic was burnt up. Things on the first floor were smoke and water damage. The home has been deemed structurally unsound and the insurance co. and public adjuster can't even access certain parts to inventory our contents. Its very frustrating. It is hard to stay positive, but I am doing the best I can. That is why I posted here. Posting is kind of cathartic. I spent so much time here and after losing my collection I could only think of getting back into this forum as I will need the contacts and friends, if I am going to make any attempt at trying to replace part of my collection. There is no better place to talk Oakley and to find those pieces that most people don't even realize are still out there. Thanks again.
