Vintage frame alternatives

With how expensive and/or exclusive a lot of the older, more popular frames are (Juliet, Romeo, Penny etc..) I decided to do what poor people are best at and problem solve to find more available frames that can sort of match these sought after silhouettes.

Romeo 1 & Penny - The Plantaris does a pretty excellent job at matching both of these silhouettes and it’s pretty obvious they pulled some details from both silhouettes.

Juliet, Romeo 2 & Half-X - The slimmer Juliet is alittle harder to replicate with any modern models, BUT I do think the Half Jacket 2.0 does a really nice job in giving that slim, sharp look that sits right in that pocket between the brow and cheek bone. The Half X and Romeo 2 is alittle obvious but the Half Jacket 2 does a great job of replicating that older Oakley look and with a custom paint job you could manage a pretty close homage.

A more apt term would be 'lookalikes', maybe? Yes, they may look similar, but the look & feel, the touches which made them unique - the modern interpretations just don't have it in them. Much as I love the Plantaris, I don't think it's even remotely close to what a Romeo might feel.

Agree on your point about quality and look, but you’re sort of missing the point of the post. Ideally, yes, you’d get a pair of x metals, but they’re very expensive and overall just hard to acquire so for those who don’t really have the means to acquire an x metal frame these are the next best thing.

Trust me, I know! X-metals aren't available locally in my country. Importing them is prohibitively expensive because I live in a country with worst possible import regulations - a 40% flat duty on any imports. So, citing the minimum price (say, a Juliet quoted at $400) would cost me somewhere around $480-$500 shipped, G&S, as I can't risk a lost package. Once landed, I'd get a $200 duty slapped on - making it a landed cost of $700 approx.
Hurts, yes!

Or an X Squared. Those too were a work of art, but sadly overshadowed by the Romeo

Your vintage frame alternatives would be the new collabs and MUZM models. Those are new frames of older models/designs.
Acknowledged, but once again these collabs and models aren’t really readily available and are usually bought up and resold at an increased price. My alternatives are what anyone could get there hands on.

I do have to point out is that you have an equal chance as anyone to snag up the pairs you said aren't attainable. Many people spend time focusing on a certain style and scour for info and getting their hands on that pair. Sometimes we win, sometimes we too are forced to shell out for a pair we aren't even convinced we need.

For many, buying a limited release is balancing thoughts of need/want, or FOMO ( fear of missing out). We've all been in your position at one point.

Idk to pretend like raffle systems are at all equal is alittle crazy. Especially these days with bots and resellers with deep pockets and too much time on their hands.

It’s gone way past who wants pair more and rather fallen into a game of who is willing rig the game the most.

And I haven’t even gotten to company’s taking intentional steps on making their product uber exclusive via pr gifts and specific location drops.
