Speaking of disasters...

I had a meal planned for last night but it had a long cook time and I had to work late - by the time I got home everybody was hungry and impatient. So I postponed the planned meal until tonight and tried to slap something quick together with whatever sparse ingredients I had laying around, a ramen-esque noodle soup using bean thread noodles in chicken broth with hard boiled egg and enoki mushrooms...

And it totally sucked. I ain't posting that one...

After tonight's meal (which may or may not make it to this thread) I won't be cooking for the next week or two, got various other things going on. Somewhere in there is a reservation at a Michelin starred French restaurant; sure hope they let me take pics...

I might have some red wine but im not sure if its good for cooking.

You can absolutely use it or any other red for cooking. But I wouldn't use it for that beef recipe; port is sweeter. Yeah, if you can find a cooking sherry over there that would be perfect.

Nope. I normally go to Thien An on 2611 San Jacinto. That place is good Pho realz!!!

Pho seems to be all over the place these days; there's a few here that stand out.

A good one close to the office is called Pho King. It's a standalone building that was just built a few years ago. Before they built it, for the longest time they had a sign sitting on the property that read:

PHO KING,
COMING SOON

I really really wish I had caught a pic of it...
