Oysters - raw, steamed, fried; I love 'em all! I've got a killer oyster stew recipe that I do about once a year, maybe twice, around New Year's. Super delicious! Also for Thanksgiving, I do oyster dressing (stuffing). And not some chopped up bits of oyster mixed with standard dressing; we're talking big ol' honkin' whole oysters, and a lot of them...
There's a Gulf Coast-style seafood restaurant here in town that does the best fried oysters, called Quality Seafood. They're originally a seafood supplier to restaurants, etc. with a direct-retail storefront. Then they opened up a small oyster bar in the storefront, which has now expanded into a very large restaurant with a big menu, all excellent, always jam-packed.
There's an oyster bar in Grand Central Station in New York City that's the best place for raw oysters, they usually have like a dozen different types that you can a la carte; clams, too. They also have a location in terminal B of the Newark airport.
I've only had fried alligator tail at Pappadeaux... tastes like chicken lol...
