What's On Your Plate???

I just got back from a few days in Bemidji, MN - I've got some relatives up there, haven't been in like 30 years. I've got a lot to post about it (if I get around to it), but, this thread is about what's on your plate...

On the first night I found myself doing the cooking. My Weber gas grill is like 15 years old, give or take, but this Weber was even older than that.

Using someone else's old grill is like using someone else's old girl - you've got to twiddle with the knobs until the temperature is right, you have to figure out where the hot spots are, and sometimes you may have to reposition your meat a few times until it's in the right spot. Then watch for flare ups...

Bemidji trip, day 2 - Breakfast at a local diner called Minnesota Nice.

Two eggs over easy with ham, sourdough toast, and hash brown casserole. With a side of bacon. And a side of sausage links. And a third egg over easy.

The hash brown casserole was something I'd never seen before so I had to try it - it was basically hash browns and cheese seasoned with garlic. Pretty good.

Dinner was at probably the biggest restaurant they have in Bemidji; I don't remember the name. Walleye Pike is the local signature fish; it comes right out of Lake Bemidji to your plate, practically. Wild rice is another local specialty produce.

This is pan fried Walleye Pike filet with green beans and wild rice. What's left of a local IPA can be seen, too. It was all quite tasty.

Bemidji trip, day 3 - breakfast at some local Denny's / IHOP-esque diner, don't remember the name of this one.

An "everything" omlette with hash browns and rye toast. A la carte poached egg on top of the hash browns.

Dinner at Rutiger's Birchmont Lodge. We split a fried Perch (also from Lake Bemidji) basket as an appetizer.

More Walleye Pike, broiled this time. Chicken and wild rice soup. Corner of the pic, Double Bubble Imperial IPA, 9% ABV...

Bemidji trip, day 4 - airport food.

Found a brew pub at the Minneapolis airport.

Draft "Hazed & Infused", an unfiltered IPA.
