I don’t agree with what happened today, nor do I agree with the protests(violence)that happened all last year. I’d just like to see some consistency.

Horrible what happened today.

At least some of the GOP senators are now reversing their objections. Hopefully, this is the long road back towards normalcy in politics. The US has long been the stronghold of democracy in the world and it's vitally important that it stays that way.

What amazes me most here is that all of this has happened over a reality grifter who can't take losing. It's just unbelievable that so many people have been taken in by this shyster. Thank God he's getting the boot.

Short version, because they were too stupid to look in front of their nose.

Longer reason: Mostly over immigration and the perception that 'Europe' was secretly draining the nation's finances.

Neither was at all true, we had plenty of powers to send EU citizens back to their home nations if they didn't work and pay taxes, our own government was the one that didn't use them. We also had opt-outs and vetos over how much British money got paid into the EU and where it was spent.

EU citizens was never the problem though
