Glorious work as per Brad. Just playing Devils advocate but does Customizing a Plate frame make it come across as looking like a copy?

The copies always have screws holding on the plates.
I. guess like anything it's up to you to decide if you want something done differently than original finish.

Each to their own of course but the Plate is a frame that I actually think that personally for me, is not improved by a custom job. Reinforced by the sheer cost of acquiring a donor frame with what these O matter frames are changing hands at now.

On a PB1, as buyer, long as you can show me the "A" in the box and the screws are right I'm good.
As a seller, on eBay and the like, selling customs to the buyers with little knowledge, several times I have had to explain the customizations. Sometimes they buy and sometimes they aren't sure and move on.
Far better selling to customers here on the OF, where people know what they are looking at, for several reasons including selling customs.
A win win for buyers and sellers alike when it works....
I have had no problem finding PB1 donors under $400.
Another $100 or so for the makeover, maybe lenses maybe not.
I love the PB1s.... one of my favs for customization.

Absolutely bud. I’m not decrying your work. I’m just stating for me personally I wouldn’t covet a Plate custom. That’s just me. Maybe it’s a exclusive club (of one)

@Rotten Ronnie $400 PB1’s I haven’t seen many in Europe for that price (about £320 in the UK) If I could acquire them I’d be open to having custom versions of them to add to the paltry 3 OEM pairs I have…..

I have done at least 10 myself.
The price of those just went up the last 2 years before that they were not hard to find pretty cheap.

The market is soft on PB1s right now.... I bought some a couple of months ago, like nice ones with extra lenses .... can't say how it compares to the prices across the pond....
All this chatter about customizing PB1s is making me twitchy for another...
