Aloha forum members,
I have been a long time fan of oakley products, starting 30 something years ago. My first Oakley's were orange frame iridium lens razor blades. Man, I remember those early iridium lenses were so sensitive and easily scratched. I'm so happy that technology has made the lens finishes a lot tougher now.
Through the years, I have accumulated way too many oakley sunglasses, glasses, and other items.
I do love oakley, but have my share of gripes too.
I really hate the changes since luxottica took over.
But others things I hate is the difficulty in getting rubber / unobtanium parts for my older vintage frames. These days I'm reluctant to buy any oakley frames that have any rubber parts on them, which is really difficult because it seems like 98% of Oakley frames have rubber on them.
I also hate the seemingly limitless different rx frame styles, most of which I find mostly boring. I mostly chalk this up to luxottica and the way they flood the market with the same boring styles and shapes.
I tend to like small size frames, super small frames, what I like to call "stupid small" frames. For many years, oakley has tended to have mostly medium large to large to over large designs, which I dislike, and so have not bought many current oakley frames. My current favorite sunglasses are my Oakley Madmans. I have 2 black ruby, and 1 silver fire.
The other favorites in my collection are a ruby juliet, ruby penny, ruby minute (unfortunately rubber is bad. weepy), ruby twenty (new never worn), blue lens twenty (rubber also bad, weepy).
I stumbled upon this site while doing a search for rubber parts for my minute and twenty. I haven't had any luck yet finding any, none anyway that are reasonably affordable. I'd appreciate any help and advice on find any rubber for my minute 1.0 and twenty.
Mahalo and aloha my oakley bretheran,
Ken

Hello all!

Just north of DC and excited to see what everyone else has! I've had my own X-Metal Juliets for almost 20 years now!
Hey everyone. First I’d like to thank everyone here for all the information provided here.
I have been an Oakley fan for a long long time.
About 8 years ago I needed my first pair of prescription glasses. Now galsses are a necessity and Oakley is my go to brand. I have 4 pairs of Oakleys in my current prescription 2 sunglasses and 2 clear. I also have 2 nonprescription sunglasses and a couple old prescriptions. My favorite pair is my brand new Holbrook XL smoke gray with
Prizm sapphire polarized progressive lens. Please don’t tell my wife how much I spent!
See you all around the fourm.

Aloha and welcome you two. A pleasure having more Oakley people on the forum. Aloha.

What's going on ladies and gentlemen.been on here for about 2yrs now and been a premium member for roughly a year and am just now realizing I didnt introduce myself. My names Rich and I'm from steel town,Pittsburgh,Pa.been a oakley fan pretty much since I was in my early teens but only started collecting about 2yrs ago.in that time I've aquired roughly 25 pairs, only 4 of those are x-metal frames though(juliet to be exact).love the x-metal frames but unfortunately find that a lot of them are out of my reach when it comes to prices.would love to have a pair of the romeos but seems like I can never come across any for less then $450 which is out of my price range, well for now they are.lol.pretty much love all the metal frame oakleys but also very much into a good bit of the o-matter frames as well such as flak jackets, half jackets, and the fuel cells.been trying to fill my collection with pretty much anything and everything that's military related such as the infinite hero collection,James Dietz and global war on terrorism collections as well as a lot of the standard issues for military.tried wearing many other brands such as Gucci,Tom Ford,Ray Ban as well as a few other name brands but yet always end up with a pair of oakleys after awhile.oakleys are literally the only glasses that I can wear all day whereas other brands I try I end up getting a headache within 1 to 2hrs.because of that reason other then durability I will not buy anything other then oakley anymore.happy to be here since I've learned a good bit about oakleys and even though some on here can be brutal when it comes to they're opinion but I'd rather have someone be brutally honest with me rather then beat around the bush.ill be upgrading to a lifetime membership here soon once things start working out in my favor that way I can always have a place to come and share new acquisitions to my collection as well as get info on pairs I may want to part with in future.hope all new members here enjoy this forum as much as i have.theres a lot of great people here who are more then happy to give you their opinion on any oakley related items I'm sure without them i would've paid much more then i should have for some pairs I've aquired.take care and have a great day and or night
Funny.. I don't remember doing an introduction myself. Lol. I did something when I first signed up. But I don't recall ever coming to this thread. So no problemo.

Correction. I guess what I wrote when I first signed up did get posted in this thread a few pages back. I'm a lot newer than you to the forum. My collection has grown a lot since being here, which has been only about 4 months. Lol.

I'm new to Oakley collecting. I'm an optician and I have accumulated several pairs of Oakleys so I guess that counts as the start of a collection. Interested in learning more about Oakley and seeing other collections. Thanks! Joe

It absolutely counts, Joe! Welcome to the community. Always good to see another professional join, because believe it or not sometimes this place descends into serious talk about base curves and diopter and even pupillary distance! Crazy stuff right?!?!

Browse till your heart's content and remember, there are no stupid questions!

I do have a question has anyone else ever had a problem with some of the colored mirror on the lenses that when you look at any source of light you have whatever color the lense is as a halo around your sight line
