So with a recent interaction with @Matt Flacche he mentioned he has not seen the iridium bake fade/marks on any of the lenses that he has handled (several). I was told by someone at Oakley and possibly here that Iridium is baked on and when being processed the edges sometimes get marks that are completely normal. I am taking pics of the ones I have as I come across them and wanted to see if anyone has more info on this phenomenon that can chip in their knowledge regarding this subject.

OK, in case it's not obvious, these will only show on Original lenses as the Custom cut ones would have the edges likely trimmed off, and likely easier to see on Fire, & Ruby.

I attached shots of Ruby, Ice and Emerald scalpel lenses:

The only lenses I see delaminating or "chipping" are the lenses that are custom cut...

I think cut lenses are more prone to chipping/delaminating because of the tools used to cut the actual lens...

never seen an aftermarket lens chip/delaminate 🤔

Why does the marks look to be in the same exact spot on almost all of those lenses ??

looks like mounting marks or chips from going in or coming out of frame 🤔

We know Oakley QC was kind of trash, but I doubt the "baking process caused chipping around the edge of a lens"

Those are mounting marks from the lens being muscled in or out of an XS Frame, which is the worst frame to swap lenses, ever...

I have 2M2 XL lenses that looks like there is a fingerprint baked into the outer corners of the iridium lens. It just has to do with quality control and how the lenses are made.

One is a fire lens and one is Prizm road

Good thread. I have seen this numerous times on numerous OEM lenses. Not sure if it’s where the lenses were “held” when processed? Kinda like the marks on earstems under the ear socks where they didn’t get painted on old Omatter pairs. I’ve seen this on XX twenty, Minute, minute 2.0, and Juliet lenses.

Got photos of these?

+1 , Last night I installed a pair of oem ice polarized in a pair of juliets and noticed a few odd marks on the edges in a similar location.
