Penny orbital screw

Hi all,

I recently aquired some penny x metal and tuned the nose up myself, i took the lenses out to do this and now the lenses are back in however the right orbital is requiring a stuipd amount of force to screw back together.

Left side is fine. My initial thought is that the lense could be slightly too big but they are original,
The threads are fine as it screws compmetely shut without lense.

It took me using a lot of force to shut the orbital wgile someone else screwed in the screw. It looks okay however i need to wait for the rubber gaskets to replace.
Has anyone else had difficulty with this?
Im scared to screw the orbital shut too much as i feel it would crack the lense or strio the thread.

Any help or advice
Cheers

You’re absolutely sure you’re not cross threading the screw when you reinstall the lens? Did you physically measure the lens? Is there anything in the lens channel on the orbital? I wouldn’t force anything, even a little bit.

I managed to do it, it needed 2 people, i used both hands forcing the orbital shut then someone else gently screwed in

I had this problem with my Juliet's... it seemed to be just that particular set of lenses, in the end I sanded down one edge of the lens with sand paper and it fitted fine....

I later changed over the screws from one side to the other, I worked out that the corresponding screw thread in the socket is not as deep on the left side, just so happens that the thread was slightly longer on one of the screws so this solved the problem...

Good luck.

That’s what I had recently. I picked up a pair of the early Pennys with polished finishing and any lens greater than 0.18 mm thickness (such as all the NXT lenses from Linegear) wouldn’t fit on right side. I took a careful inspection and realized the rail on the right was shallower and narrower than the other one. I used a 2 mm pointy round file to file the rail, and it took me roughly 10 hours to make sure both sides have equal depth and width, allowing the lenses to sit in. On the left side (which is the good side), even if the lenses are 0.3 mm thicker than the original lenses, I was still able to get the screw in and lock the frame without pushing.
