Rumor: New X-Metal

Okay, here's a bigger shot of my avatar. Didn't read this whole thread by any means, but did read the last 10-15 pages. Someone noted that the Madman probably worked better on skinnier faces- I concur! One of the guys who sent them to me has a round, Charlie Brown head (sorry, bud!) and the pic of him wearing them bears that out. Versus my somewhat longer, skinnier mug. I think his giant dome sorta stretched them out, too...
Anyway, here is a shot of me in them, to show that I am in fact posting personal property (through extreme generosity on the part of others, not anything specific on my part). And a few closeups on the pretty yellow counters we have at work.
Through a(n additional) really bizarre set of circumstances, someone on here suspected I was the mystery guy that showed up at one of his haunts (while he wasn't there) and was photographed. So it is quite possible I will meet up with him shortly, so he can check them out. He promised not to drool over them too much, so he may also be posting up some shots and impressions of them before too long.

Some friends through a company I deal with were handed this pair in early September. When they saw them, they're reaction was "Oh, Zach HAS to have these!" (they've seen my in my Over the Tops) so they texted me a pic of them wearing them and said "they are in the mail. You're welcome." Well, dang...thanks!!
I don't have the depth of O knowledge of many on here, but I my initial thoughts were that they were reminiscent of the X-metals, with a little of that post-collapse, steam punk feel that the OtT's have. But these are (largely) metal, where the OtT's LOOK like metal (probably to keep them flexible enough to be put on & taken off easily) and the details and accents are real, versus molded in. VERY cool hardware detailing, and the cam hinges are sweet. The center section IS "plastic", for a bit of flex, as noted in here previously, but the frames are still quite tasty. This specific set has polarized lenses, also. They came with a sock, and (at least by the time they reached me) nothing else. Not even a box, so I can't comment on the packaging. And they are juuuuuust too long to fit the carbon & metal hard cases. Will fit a large soft vault according to a very helpful lady at Oakley (one ear stem sticks out slightly from the temporarily re-tasked small one I have). Rumor has it that there is/will be a specific hard case for them coming out next year.

Dunno how I feel on these...the center being plasticy maybe nanomatter? But that kills it for me man. Yeah they are different but I think these are a let down for me personally.
