Been wanting to do these for awhile.

Aviation themed Holbrook. Zinc chromate on the inside surfaces, aluminum outside, white and black invasion stripes, blue stem tips to represent the nose/tail colors on P-51, red icons for the “remove before flight” tags. Topped off with cerakote gloss clear and ice polar lenses.

What do you think of the cerakote clear? This is the air dry?

This is the air dry gloss. It smells terrible, but lays on pretty nice. I’m forcing the cure in a dehydrator so I can go from spray to lenses in ~3 hours. I can’t scratch it off with my fingernails.

I have some 2k clears, but after some more research, I’m probably not going to use them any more. Isocyanates are no joke, and even tho I’m using a booth, and ppe, I think I’ll still pass.

I ordered some KBS diamond finish to try out. It’s a 1k urethane that’s popular for lures and seems like it should be a nice tough gloss clear.
