Time to change the New member requirements

The pimpin problem has been around for a long time, I caught heat for calling people out on it and said f*ck it and let it go. It sucks that with every hobby this seems to happen, something gets popular and the pimps start trollin for hoes/joes. Buy low and sell high, don't let on you aren't into the hobby just hit and run. Unfortunate that whether it's sneakers, cards, watches or Oakleys we all get infiltrated by the bottom feeders. It's why I was on hiatus for a few years and now I just lurk generally, safer just chillin in my corner and popping out once in a while. To all the newbs, do your homework! Don't rely on others for information you can find yourself, make informed decisions and ask about people's reputations if tempted to make a big decision. There are still those of us here that are actually collectors and will not only help but be fair with you also. Nuff said, I'll be back in my corner over there >>>>>

In my opinion, from the onset, really put it in their head that this is not a pawn shop and if they break the rules they will be subject to just that, selling their items at unreasonably low values because they couldn’t follow the rules. Rules are in place to protect both sides, so if they feel the need to break them because they need cash immediately, they will be disappointed, if they really need to sell their wares, go put it on ebay on a 1 or 3 day bid and keep us out of it.

The forum has changed. Having been away from it for a while I can see the differences. While new members are important, I sometimes question why are you here? The number of OGs is what makes this forum what it is. True collectors were passionate about the brand before it was in vogue or even worse, profitable. The price of certain items has gone up considerably. A lot of it is hype. People trying to squeeze the most they can for a quick buck with no real interest in the product. They see an area of interest and suddenly they are a collector. They have little to no knowledge of what they are moving, they just know I bought it for X and I can sell it for Y. Aside from that I would personally like to see newcomers seeking to learn more about the hobby. Once that knowledge base is gone it’s lost forever.

Besides, those who join now come to either get clarification on value or seeking replacement parts and are gone after the 1st or 2nd post.
No real interest in it from a hobby point of view.
I was at an O store recently and enquired if they had any New Racing Jackets. I get a dumb look. One associate asks “what is that?”, the other “who’s racing?”.
🙄

In my experience the folks at the vault seem more knowledgable than the actual O Store.

Agree with this completely. So many new members are showing up asking for us to sell our very rare rubbers and parts from discontinued models so they can complete theirs and sell it. That’s why they vanish afterwards. They never had intentions of sticking around.

I herby repeat my first post in this thread. Up the period to 30 days and 100 messages before a new Member is able to access the Exchange. No Email or phone No. exchange allowed with new members.
I'll second the motion!

At least an attempt to even things up, needs to be tried. Or the Forum will dwindle, the 'Members' who take advantage need a 'kick up the arse', or even to lose their place, on this Forum.
