those are the old batteries that used to protect the coast line. 35 some batteries around the bay. They used to house 12 inch and 6 inch guns (Barrel diameter of course), that could shoot thier shells 12 miles. As the weapons on ships improved, shorline protection nedded to be up graded. After Pearl Harbor these were maned 24 hours a day.
