I started collecting games as a hobby/investment 7 or 8 years ago and its worked out really well. I got most of what I wanted before prices got crazy and now I'm selling off a bunch of extras I got in lots. I had a pretty good cycle of getting games for cheap that I knew I could play and resell for net $0, but then collecting got the better of me.

Sega CD is my favorite. I have a complete US collection, plus quite a bit more and around 1,500 games for most mainstream US systems from Atari 2600 up until PS4/Xbox One/Switch. I haven't found anything to push me to a PS5 yet, but I'm sure something will come up in the next year.

1500 is impressive - I have about half that and still don’t find the time to play them all. My PS4 completion percentage is a shameful 24%. Plenty of games dating back to the PS1 are still factory shrink wrapped too.

I’d say it’s worth getting a PS5 if you can find one - chip shortages won’t cease in the short term and even games with a multiplayer release will perform notably better on a PS5 than even a Pro PS4. Ghost of Tsushima being a good case in point.
