That could definitely explain the adhesion issue on some areas. I've only ever used ABS though so I don't know much about it.

I've only really used PLA because it's usually used for Engineering type applications / available at the labs at school. Can have a smell to it because of the petroleum base but it can be made stronger. That being said I've had plenty of issues of my own with it
