Cutting Lenses - What Works

One thing I've noticed with custom cuts is that the Oakley lenses seem to be colored based on the sizing or likely groups of lens sizing. A larger lens cut in the center seems to have (overall) a different color than a smaller lens. I compare my recent Romeo 1 Polarized Ice cut from a Big Taco to my Polarized Ice Juliets. My Big Tacos cut are lighter in the center and the deeper blue on the outer portion of the lense is gone. Mostly just an observation. I suspect to obtain the most accurate color, you'd need to cut from a doner that is relatively close in size. With a polarized lens, that's difficult if you want to remove/avoid the etching.

I am also searching for info on what donor lenses can be used for A wire. I'm having a helluva time finding gold iridium polarized lenses in general, but it would help to narrow down the search if I had an idea of which ones will work...??

The table doesn't appear to have been updated in some time. Aren't the Big Taco lenses good donors for most of the X-metals?

Sorry if this was discussed in the previous pages, but i wasn't about to surf through 62 pages of posts :) Plus the XS Fives i just picked up isn't in the table.

I just picked up two pairs of the XS Fives for REALLY cheap ($10 each). They're kinda beat up and the lenses have some scuffs.

I know the base curve is 8.75. Just wondering how one determines which "donor lens" to use? And if you can list what lenses I can use, that'd be great too!

First pair is the Black/Blue Iridium
Second pair is the Berry/Grey

It's not required that i use the same colored lenses. If anything i'd like to use a Emerald or Jade in the Black frame and a Fire or +Red in the Berry frame.

Any lens bigger than the lens you want and that has the correct curve will work. For xs fives, about any 8.75 lens outside of a penny would work I'd imagine. I'd use a big taco or even half/fast jacket. What ever is easier to get ahold of

Thanks! I actually have a +Red jawbone lens that's just sitting around.
