Cutting Lenses - What Works

Hey what do you think about the Split Jacket OO RIP for XX, Juliet or R1? Think the Polarized etching can be preserved? Definitely more likely than the Flak Jacket XLJ
If you use flak jacket xlj for juliet the workd polarized will look like this.

Vented jawbone lens SKU 16-866 will fit R1? What is listed is jawbone lens, not sure on the vented lens.. Thanks in advance

you guys need to stop worrying about preserving some pointless etching and worry about keeping the optics correct. This is absurd. If you want appearance, just get the crap ebay lenses...what works is what fits for the last time. If you lose letters, or they don't line up proper, but the optics are maintained, it's called sacrifice. Will they generally line up? NO. simple as that. Each etching is designed to fit the curves of the designated frame, not the intended custom cut fit. If you twist the lens to maintain the etching, you have just screwed yourself for appearance. You think I am kidding, take your lens before you screw it up, look at it in front of your LCD monitor, and twist it. Yeah, goes from dark to black...Guess what, get in your car with a fkd up lens and watch what happens to your phone display, lcd readouts on your dash and so forth...This is stupid to even talk about. I know people will "do what they want" and disregard the truth and common sense for "preference" which is fine, but on your shoulders when you trash a perfectly good pair of lenses for stupidity.

then the lens doesn't work. There is no way around fking up the optics. Either it works and works right, or it doesn't. Cut the etching off completely if you can, but don't twist the lens just to make it look good.

agreed. ive seen so many people INSIST on wanting their polarised etching with no regard as to how the lenses would function. even after you tell them, they insist....to those, i just shake my head and do the job... its not so bad when they want say an unpolarosed "ducati" or "titanium" etching... but when the lens is polarised its madness.

i couldnt care less if my romeo had no etchings. if the lenses are getting XYZ clarity then thats a job well done.

Exactly. Only I won't do them if they are polar and out of alignment, period. Plenty of hacks who will, and I am not looking to make a buck so some dumbass worries about appearance gets in a car crash or something because I did what I knew was wrong. Besides, you have to do so much more for a Romeo just to fit a polar lens since it wasn't meant to ever have one and the donor is that much thicker...Get a clue people, if you want appearance, don't talk trash about Lux this, and that brand that, cuz you are getting EXACTLY what you want...If you want the best, do the right thing. If you want sub par, buy your sh!t at Wal Mart and save several hundred bux, cuz it's no different. How about cutting off the letters and having someone etch them proper?? Go figure, another option...

Always baffles me how people nickel and dime every little deal here, but then will totally wipe their a$$ with $50 bills (or whatever your currency is) cuz it looks good hahaha

well so far ive done 2 pairs of etched polar lenses and got it to line up polarically with only half the "D" cut off, so nothing completely **** yet, but if it was my lens i rather have no etching and give the optics their best shot.

and for sure if its not gonna line up i'll tell em and reject the job if they insist. im only doing it to help the local enthusiasts but if thats all they go for then im not really helping them at all.
