Yes but if I sell infruquently I just have a friend put in a bid. We have never bid on things before so looks ligate. Plus even when Ebay knows this is going on they are reluctant to do anything. Its to there advantage when the price is higher. And when confronted Ebay with evidense the seller can advise if you post negative response that they want it removed and get it done. Ive seen this happen

Yes but if you never bid, your rating will be low and the interaction will be 100%. Huge red flags to me and I’ll back away immediately. Yes eBay does virtually NOTHING to stop that, but then again occasionally it’s just a new buyer so punish the few who have done no wrong? This is why I said look for the tells. Low feedback rating. Bidder interaction and if possible how long have they been an eBay member as many shill accounts aren’t even “buddies” but a separate account created by the sellers just for that purpose.

Here is one even better. I am high bidder the seller decides they didnt get enough. So i try and transfer funds into his account. He freezes account so money cant go in, Then says he wasnt paid for product Ebay then lets him relist even though they know I was high bidder and try to put money into his account

Here is how you get hugh interaction and 100% rating. Ive never sold anything just purchased from other people. Now I scam soneone and they say this has never happened with him before. Then I get ahold of Ebay and tell them that this tranaction was bogus and I want my rating to stay at 100%. They are relucant to post negative feedback untill there is overwhelming evidence.

Best advice stay On Forum and deal with collectors. They know there product and want to be well respected. And when some like KASHON or Walter L gets involved its spreads like wildfire.

Your points while valid, are easy enough for one to do their homework. First. eBay will take action in your first scenario. Plus the PayPal paperwork trail supports it. And you forgot they can just outright cancel a transaction claiming it was damaged misrepresented etc, then relist. While you can in fact have a high rating as a buyer, eBay now will allow you to break it down as a buyer and a seller. If you see that, well maybe stay away I suppose. Personally I bought a $3500 dollar Doxa Sub 300t dove watch from a seller in Florida for $900 bucks who had a 2 feedback rating. Turned out to be a 70 year old professor who was retiring and moving and selling of his stuff. His feedback was for two items he bought so many years before it didn’t even say what it was. Point is none of this is foolproof. Scams happen everywhere. Personally I don’t think this auction was shill bid. I bid personally. I was high bidder til the very end when 2 seconds before it ended the 432.90 bid came in. As far as scams go. Cheaters gonna do whatever to make a buck and it doesn’t matter if it’s eBay or OF. I have read about scammers on this board as well. This is one reason I’m betting the rules state no F/F advertising. Buyer has ZERO recourse. If G/S is used, then PayPal ALWAYS favors the buyer, and believe it or not you can get scammed that way as well. I have personally and it took GREAT lengths to get my money back. PayPal ALWAYS favors the buyer not the seller. Long story short I sold a fender to a guy paid to ship it, it sat in Will call waiting had all the documents to back this and he messaged me saying he found a nicer one and wanted his money back. They refunded him all his money including the shipping which I had already paid and I had to pay to have it shipped back. Anyhow I digress. The safest approach to eBay is how @jcesl2 said. Bid what your comfortable paying no more. You/we all can second guess what it would actually taken to win but more time then not you’ll be wrong. I can tell you last week of the bidder I was bidding against on my Emerald ichiro’s #138 had bid 5 bucks more, he’d have em in his collection right now and not me.

I personally have bought tens of thousands off Ebay. My advise above all else is to bid in the last 10 seconds and bid as high as you can afford, No matter what the dollar figure your only going to go 1 bid above the top bidder. Dont sit there and drive the price up by rebidding or put a bid in and have it rise as others figure out your max.

I thought you said eBay was bad???

I didnt say bad. I just dont use it for something Iam purchasing that in some cases is 20 years old. A lot of people selling dont know the difference between Juliet and XX or XS. And post and your stuck with what ever they send. Then go thru repackaging and having your money be reissued from Pay Pal. I prefer to deal with people that know the difference between Oakley OEM rubbers and repops. With Ebay you have to deal with everyone in the world , Here you had to search to get to this site , IMOP the person here is a more dedicated Oakley phonatic. Plus other members have your back when something is wrong, we look out for the novice. At least i try to .
