Rumor: New X-Metal

I saw some official Oakley paperwork at the O store a couple weeks ago with a new Juliet coming late 2014. It wasn't a catalogue per se but showed some upcoming releases. I would say it is coming but to the extent of what type of release etc. I do not know.

Really? I've seen what I thought was all the paperwork for stuff this year and have talked to multiple people in the know and no ones mentioned anything of Juliet's or xmetals.

Hmm ill add my hear say to the thread... While dealing with my carbon blade repair recently, I had to escalate to a supervisor as the frames had not been added to the warranty system... While chit chatting I commented that I really wish I could just buy some Juliet's as they are much TOUGHER FRAME and that I was disappointed that they had been discontinued, and was also told they will be back soon... later that same month I was told the metal line will return by an O store manager in so cal. toping that off with just last month walked into a o vault with my polished x squared and one of the managers came over and broke into convo with me about the shades, how great they are etc later telling me again they will return, my reply was "not from china I hope..." all 3 this year... 3 separate occurrences..

Its still all hear say but there sure is a lot of it from 3 different vectors for me.... only time will tell!

Ya was at my local o store. Looked like emails printed on construction paper but it was from the head shed.

I talked to a guy from oakley HQ he queitly mentioned that x-metals will return. As for dates... I honestly think possibly X-mas at the earliest but Summer 15 release more realistic but all that is, is speculation

Well, this has been wishful thinking ever since they were discontinued. Whether the new rumors are real or more of the same, time will tell. I look forward to seeing what will happen. The worst case is them releasing an inferior product and calling it x-metal...

All I can tell you guys is what an O Vault manager emphatically passed on to me yesterday.
She was at an Oakley conference in Miami earlier this year where they were all told by the higher ups that X metals are returning 100% for sure for sure this year on Black Friday.
When I pressed her for more details she claimed that's all she knew.
And that's all I know.
Now you know

What form they're going to take is anyone's guess.
What they will do to the collectibility
of current x metals is also anyone's guess.
My guess is that the "new x metals" may raise awareness of the "old x metals" and eventually may be in time even more sought after despite initially "flooding" and saturating demand.
It's astounding how few people I bump into who are wearing Oakley's even know that x metals exist !
Maybe a "new x metal" might be good for the old x metals ?
Just a guess.
