Why are people (Forum members included) so cheap?

Brother, how would you define "take care of others"? In my opinion, that entails a myriad of things such as, integrity (shipping and accurately stating condition) and not gouging a fellow member more than a fair market price. It does not suggest to me that I should give it away as a pay it forward deed. This is all hard earned money.

Its actually sister(LOL), but I would define taking care of others as being honest in dealings and treating others with respect. When someone is down on there luck here or something of the like, this great group of members soars up to help in anyway they can. I have seen it time and time again and it is amazing how generous and caring most of the members are on here. Which I don't mean to say that you don't do that because honestly I don't know you. If people on here aren't treating you with respect then I would just ignore them. After a while I would hope they would figure out what they are doing is disrespectful and stop. When buying I don't like to haggle, I will ask them what is their best price and if it is not in the range I want to pay then I say thank you and move on. It saves time and energy on my part. And as a seller I love when people say what is your best price, I tell them and the either buy it or don't, simple and quick. I'm not saying you should give your items away, all I am saying is what I have done and my results. You are trying to sell your entire collection and get out of collecting Oakleys altogether? If you want to sell it all at once then shoot me a PM. I like to buy in bulk. :)

Just a heads up. He's a sister. ;)

I just want to recoup my costs and move on and out. It's frustrating for me the state of the current market.

I get that some people are disrespectful when contacting sellers and that you find it annoying, but expecting to recoup your cost on something like sunglasses might be somewhat optimistic. If you don't get the prices you feel you can live with just wait or take a small loss. I wear all of mine so most of the value I get from enjoying them in use ;)

People want a deal....thats the bottom line....and when selling on a specialized forum like this you're typically dealing with some of the most educated people with regards to rarity, availability, current market value etc.... so they're going to cherry pick what they want to fill a hole in their collection or upgrade a current pair to something nicer...

auction sites tend to be bring better selling prices, but when you account for fees and risking dealing with thieves and scammers many don't want the risk or the hassle...

Let's say you have an IH Juliet for sale...

Someone else has an IH Juliet for sale that they JUST SOLD for $800...

If you're thinking the "market value" of your IH Juliet is $800 based on that person's sell, then you're completely wrong...sorry...

...also, if you're trying to recoup your money and move on, then expect to lose money...

Buying glasses and selling them is not a smart way to "make money"...you're not going to get what you put in...

Lastly, I'm not 100% sure what you're selling, but maybe it's overpriced anyways, seeing as you're selling glasses to a tiny audience...

You'll know if it's overpriced if it's been sitting for weeks at a time and the thread is full of bumps...

I didn't say the original price,I was referring to the sale price on the forum which should drive or fuel the market right? Unless there is a guide book somewhere that states what x metals are worth.

Oh well the only way i know of is by either checking eBay sold listings and keeping up with the forum sales of the same pieces

Ok, just saw the thread you may be referring to...

I don't think anyone is going to give you more than $800-850 for a Carbon Ichiro Juliet...

You've been trying to sell it for months...

Hold out and wait for the sucker that sees the thread and wants them in his collection...

Good luck, sir :)

There exists a breed of people that hunt hunt hunt and never pull the trigger. It feels like this forum is inundated with said types more and more over the past couple of years. Everyone "ooohs and aahhhhhs" with admiration for a piece for sale and some even go as far as "I'd buy it, but (insert nick of time circumstance)." Please....

These people I would venture would never be serious about anything ever. But whatever...

The best deal as you put it would be to buy a Bnib r1 set for $5 right? Be reasonable here. Most of us have done our due diligence over time and worked our way to what we have now. Even if we obtained them through good deals in the process, it still cost us a good amount of money.

I never thought I would see a Bnib polished carbon fall under $900 as the norm. That's just stupid...forgive my Chinese.

Let me guess, you would LOVE to acquire that set for say...$10? Does that work for you?
