Cracked Carbon X-Metal Repair

Contact @SEAN WAYNE. He has a trustworthy contact in the Philippines who does X-metal (and O-matter) repairs for very reasonable prices. He can be found under name Bobby G. Catina and his FB webpage "Oakley Repair Restoration Customization and Accessories"

Alternatively, contact try @Steven Goldberg or @X-Metal Beast. Occasionally, they part out frames they find in their travels. I can pass on your details if you can't contact XMB via his (presumably full) inbox.

I'm pretty sure that Bobby can repair it. He ALSO repairs broken O-matter (believe it or not!!). He has pictures of repairs he's done on his FB site. If not, FB message me and I'll forward photos to you.

Cost me 2500 Pesos (approx USD $48) (excluding shipping) to repair a cracked mars nosebridge. I posted to Sean Wayne who hand carried it back for me. Sean Wayne is on my trusted Seller's List. It was given to him 2 days ago. Today I was sent pictures of the repair and the reassembled Mars. Yes. He's quick and very responsive to FB messages (bear in mind the time difference).

I've included the damaged nosebridge and the "after repair" pictures.

Disclaimer - @SEAN WAYNE is picking them up this coming Saturday for me, so I haven't seen the repair for myself directly. But the initial repair pictures look great. Perhaps Sean Wayne can make a comment about quality when he picks them up for me?!! Thanks in advance and thanks for sorting this out for me. You know I was a bit nervous about letting my baby go. LOL.

@Maveryq13, all the best. It's worth getting it repaired if you want it fixed. I think it would take sometime to find an orbital.

Holy crap @cacatman! That's awesome. I remember the cringe I had when you first posted about it getting damaged by your optometrist. That fix looks great!

TL DR

Can this metal be welded? If so what type would be best. I can do it all but never have I tried titanium .
I’ve welded gun receivers back together that are 100% functional.

I never thought the XS could break like that.
I would see it requiring a weld and cutting back down to shape.

The main welder here at work looked at the pic and looked at my shades to see what it’s like originally. . There’s a good of messing up.

I hope you can fix em
