Anybody have any success with straight jacket lenses in the PB1? I have these Alignhi red polarized straight jax lenses that I would like to use in the PB1. They're close but a little big for the orbital so they need sanding down along the edges. I have a dremel here so would I use the standard sanding drum or pick up something finer? anybody have a good outcome with this and have any tips I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Since my mars i got are in pretty rough shape i figure i mine as well try 2 ruin a pair of crosshair lenses i have lying around and cut a new pair of lenses for the Mars >_> this should be interesting...

Not totally sure, but I think the crosshairs are a different curvature for them. The Mars is a 8-9 base. Can't remember what the crosshairs are. Just Fyi. Might work though, pending where in the lens you cut it.

I read here that the base curvature is 8.75 for both in this thread on page 22, should be fun times but i'm sure i will screw it up. So far all i have done is trimmed a pair of my jawbones to fit in my "Splitbone" frames so this will be my first full lens cut. Going to cut them while they are sent to X for a tuneup

Yea Xmetals typically measure 8.87-8.97, 8-Base is what they are called, chart wise 8.75.

Ok so the crosshairs match, that makes sense, I am just unfamiliar with them due to not being able to get replacement crosshairs.

Tape both sides of the lens. Then when you get close, start checking often. Lightly put a small bevel on the edge. That will make them fit in the orbital tray. Make sure you do not get them almost exact and then bevel, then they will be too small. When its close then bevel, check, trim-bevel, check trim-bevel, check and so on. Tight fit is just fine. The nub is not necesarily needed for fitting, so only worry about the in the end. Go slow and cautious, and you will be fine. Or send to me and I will get it done. Might be worth 35 to not risk it.

I may end up sending you a pair if this doesnt work out because the original lenses seem "foggy" when i look through them =) just want to get my hands wet in lens cutting this project frame seems like a good start, i'm going to probably use a belt sander with some really fine grit i think the dremel may be 2 much rpms and cause 2 much heat.

Use the dremel with a sanding disc, I use the high setting if cutting alot off, then go to the low setting and light pressure for final work. You can use the sanding wheels, but I find it hard to do that. Yes a belt sander can work too, jut be careful not to flat spot it.

Any specific Grit or do you start out rough and work your way finer once your nearing the end?
