Cutting Lenses - What Works

So we now can use big taco as R1 donor lens?

Im definitely not qualified to confirm as im not sure of the thickness etc. maybe ill bring R1 lenses and XX lenses to an oakley store and see what replacements they have and see what may fit.

Too expensive to buy lenses just to test fit!

didnt feel like searching or starting a new thread.

Ive heards its possible to fit a radarlock lens in a standard radar frame.

I tried to do it but was unsuccessful, so would just like to know if its possible with a little mod or not possible at all

Cool, would love to know the results, if thats possible :)

The Big Taco, Eyepatch 2 and Plaintiff Squared are all very big lenses and all have 8.75 base curve. I'm pretty certain XX lenses can be cut from all 3 and may be possible to eliminate the polarized etching for the XX. Definitley for the Juliet. Will try to check for Romeo shortly...

R1 lens seems difficult to cut because the shape is irregular with a somewhat rounded on one end and a little bit pointed on the other end. Any feedback on those who made the cut?

Probably one of the hardest cuts because of the frame design and inconsistencies between frames

I did a jade Romeo for my first custom cut. It was fairly easy came out real nice. I spent about an hour on it. My next custom cut was an +red for an XX and had a tough time with it and spent hours on it. I think I just got lucky on the Romeo. I am doing another Romeo now photo-chromatic, hope it goes as well as the first.

its really easy to screw up romeo lenses. I think mars are the easiers I cut yet. Though the split jacket was pretty easy too. Just take your time and do a little at a time and check the fit often. Its really hard to make the lens bigger

be real careful messing with polar and photo lenses. they are thicker and can toss you real fast if you don't watch out.

You can never replace what you take away when it comes to lens chops. half a millimeter is a tiny amount until it is too far, then it is a canyon!
