Yup. And it gets worse as each century passes. Seems like now it's as each year passes though. Soon it'll just compound to days.

Tried about an hour ago. Was on hold for 25 or so minutes, so I hung up lol. I'll try again tomorrow...

Usually they have an option that you can enter your phone number and they will call you back when you're next in line.

This is correct. Both times I did this and they called me back.
