Ill just sit here quietly. No need to piss people off.

As far as having it locked for sending to me i get that too. I’m a real d bag and I’m sure eventually there will be threads about not gettin your glasses back from me for years soon enough... That said If that is the case I will definitely recuse myself from trying to do forum friendly things. I seem to get burned at a rate of 100% when I try.

I'm with @GamerGuySam.

We should try and play nice, so that when we actually do have something to object to/get mad about, it actually means something!!

And in fairness, if you've ever been a moderator, it's sometimes extremely hard to moderate fairly at times. The way I look at it, someone may make "fair rules", but in the end, human beings have to interpret them and exercise their personal judgement. Therefore they won't always get it right and it won't always make sense to others (our us). They may misunderstand your intentions, but it is true that we often don't appreciate the negative impact of what we do/say on others because we always give ourselves the "benefit of the doubt".

And don't forget, if someone nags them enough, maybe they figure it's just easier to give in, even if they personally didn't mind a particular post.

Besides. If we want to be here, that's the way it's got to be. Personally I like being here, so the occasional miscalculation by mods is really a very small price to pay....especially if it's at @"TRUMP"'s expense!!!!

Anyway, even though I don't think I generally do too much that would warrant being banned/blocked, but because of the numerous hours of work I've put into my lists, I actually did take out an "insurance" policy "just in case"!! I copied and pasted most of my important Lists to o-review.com and elsewhere off line.

So, it sounds like Dillon and Mariener are the same: WE WONT SHIP YOU BLANKS

Lots of folks hated Dillon for that, but don’t hate Mariener - I guess hatred is limited by how much money you’re willing to spend...

I think there was more to it than that...
+1
I believe that if Dillon had their way, no one would ever be able to even CUT Dillon lenses for non Dillon sunglasses. @Litos, as you know, they have even gone so far as to write a letter to at least one person to stop cutting their lenses. You yourself told me that they have absolutely no right to be force that on people. Just that fact alone that Dillon pulled that sort of nonsense to bully one of our beloved members, makes my blood boil.

I love their lenses but I dislike their perceived attitude.

Marnier, on the other hand have a seemingly quite different attitude towards a possible customer base no matter how big or small we may be. In fact, they're even trying to facilitate and build goodwill by not charging freight to the USA for anyone from this forum as part of a bulk buy. No way Dillon would help us like that, even though it makes perfect business sense to do such a thing.

And yes, cost does come into it. The cost of a complete Mernier pair of glasses is far far less than even just a spare pair of lenses from Oakley, let alone Dillon.

I suspect the reason they can't sell "blanks" to us is possibly because they have contracts with their suppliers etc. There's probably quite legitimate reasons why they aren't allowed to, outside of obvious lens replacements.

Yeah that not cutting our lenses thing they simply cant enforce. I mean once i own glasses i own them. I can break them burn them anything i want them. I get avoiding the legality of it but thats such BS. @Marien could make a small fortune off this forum selling X-metal cuts. About the only way I’d get NON oakley lenses is if there was a lense i liked better which Matte lenses could pull off. No offense to line gear but I don’t like many 3rd party lenses, @Walleva LLC has annoyed me into avoiding 3rd parties.

@cacatman
You asked me a question earlier I now can't find. Something about 1mm thickness, or can it be cut?
Can u try to rephrase the question and tag me so I can answer it?
I had quit following thread when I found out they didn't sell finished 73mm lens blanks. Which by the way would work in fuel cell, gascan, turbine, double edge, and probably c6 to name a few!

Ahh, yes. I was wondering what the "margin" around a donor lens has to be for you to "safely" cut them.

Good question! It depends on the way they are beveled. Normally I want 1mm total width, and 1 mm height. (So 0.5mm extra per edge)... But if they have any odd step-bevel (like Oakley wires) then 4mm total!

These shouldn't have that bevel being mounted in plastic frames.

Thanks buddy.

Thanks for the info. I'll update the lens dimensions page with it!
