Question on insurance

Well I’m not ins expert but I doubt your standard home owners insurance is going to cover tens of thousands of dollars in Oakley’s. If you’re discussing it with your agent then you are by default increasing your coverage or making sure they will cover them (get that sh documented) by doing so. Mechanics get their tools and boxes insured specifically for a reason.
Not unlike photography/etc gear, but least things like computer parts are a little easier to get insured. And usually it's whatever you contain in the home, least far as places like state farm goes, they will cover collections but if you want to have a lot less hassle getting closer to their real value covered in the event they are lost they need it itemized up front.

Funny enough it's cheaper/easier to get say crap load of drones and camera gear covered than vintage fountain pens that have less monetary value than all that (probably because the actual value of their replacement has no definitive retail value), so doesn't seem like it's a matter of the cost (ie: tens of thousands of dollars), but rather can you actually prove without a doubt a replacement is worth the claimed value.

Your H/O policy will cover personal property up to the limit stated on the policy. See if you have replacement costs or ACV. Documentation is a must and make handling the claim much easier for ANYTHING you have insured.

What kind of documentation?
