Nothing is truly confirmed until its properly released. How many times has items been made only to be changed before production, scraped and redesigned, or just dumped altogether. We may see something that is being tested or tried but we won't know until its officially released or officially announced.
I know I know... I was kidding

I forgot to put a In my original post ...

Well, if I had seen it, I would have said that it made me think of if I'd squished a metal bug (like this) crawling across my face and that's what's left over...

Seriously, I have to complement Oakley for going so far off the mainstream and producing something like that in the Lux-lifestyle era. Well named, too...

That said, the success of a pair like that while right now frogskin-style has made a comeback and is the main thing will be, uh, difficult. I mean, as fanatical about x-metals as we all are, x-metals never made it mainstream and this is even more radical. Same with Medusa and OTT.

They probably will sell some, especially to us forum members; even those of us initially turned off will find their appeal growing over time, I think.

But I think they're unlikely to be a commercial success, especially if they have to do a lot of specialization to their production line to make them.

I'll probably end up with a pair for special occasions. They better come out with a polar option...

And, if they are still refining the design, hopefully Oakley will be reading these posts for constructive feedback...

I just can't figure out why Luxkley didn't make a frogskin style xmetal. Frogskin with nosebridge flex coupler, orbital screw, and hammer/straight stem. It seems like a no brainer IMO.

When Jim spoke to us at the RED event he said that Frogskins were his biggest mistake. He actually hated them and never wanted to continue manufacturing them. However the low cost it took to make them and the fact they sold for so cheap that many people bought them and they were a hit. X metals had such a high price not many people had the money. Frogs were outselling everything so they stayed.

sometimes it doesn't matter how much they sell either.

equate it to car sales. some companies lose money on their "Halo" car sales. your Vipers, GT40s, ect... sometimes are sold at a loss just to exist. they lose money with every unit they sell, but they gain it back by the fact that the car exists. it draws attention to the brand and gives it a better brand status with buyers. then more people buy the entry level products.

when i was a teen i drooled over the Juliets on display at the local vault. i couldn't afford them at the time so i bought a pair of Gascans back then. those Juliets sold those Gascans to me. lol.

Both pairs - the Madman and the Badman - were presented to Oakley Reps last week. Prototypes were to bee seen and you even were able to wear them. Reps were teached about them. No photos were allowed. Each will be approx 400$, released in the first half of 2015. Their design is "X-Metal like" but much more radical I was told. Taht will be an awesome year, next year... ;)
