What Are You Driving ?

I believe that was me you were chatting with about it (#2561). Back then I had done basically the same to my G as you did to your Z. Since then it's crossed my mind to go the tube route, but I just can't justify it. If I did I would have to go long tube and not shorties. I'm not sure about the Z, but the G requires cutting up the front end of the car to get it installed. I did enough "dress up" stuff under the hood and am satisfied with that.

How did it change the exhaust note?

Ah, hey.

Sound...I feel like most of what you end up hearing is up front. Just the principal of there being more metal for sound to resonate. It was a noticeable difference the first few times, but I'm on an OEM Nismo exhaust so I'm terribly lacking in the sound department period. Even the stock Z exhaust sounded a bit...more.

The Z requires cutting as well. While this is a very DIY-able job, my car was in for service, the shop stocked the Stillen intakes, I threw my hands up and figured why not. They are one of, if not the, best Z shops in the Bay Area so no better hands to put it in. Plus, I have no space to do it myself unless I decide to look sketchy on the neighborhood street.

Finished the re-tune and the main difference was definitely the top end. Before, I found the car before to kinda "peak" maybe past 5500 rpm. It's like it comes through with a consistent pull to the end now. Considered the Z1 filter upgrade with the velocity stacks — I mean while I was already doing this intake — but it does take more fudging of the crash bar to fit since they're bigger.

Did do the Z1 breather hoses. Small stuff but slick.

I’m not driving it, but someone is. I guess the question is, why??
