Oakley Double Edge Sunglasses Review
Frame and Design
The Oakley Double Edge is a large, bold, rectangular frame with a big wrap. Overall, the frame has a sporty look, but is still built for daily wear.
The frame is made of Oakley’s flexible O Matter material. It’s lightweight and comfortable with a three-point fit that feels great on your face. The earstems are a medium width at the front and taper back getting smaller over your ears.
You won’t find Unobtainium earstems on this frame, but this is in line with Oakley lifestyle pairs like the Gascan. However, you will still find Unobtainium nose pads for added grip.
Overall the Double Edge is a fairly minimalist style, without crazy planes or edges. The design reminds us a bit of the Jury sunglasses from a decade ago but plainer. It seems like the real statement here is the size, with deep lenses and a big wrap.

Size and Dimensions
The Oakley Double Edge size shows that they are not fooling around when they say this style fits big heads. These are big glasses, both in width and lens height:
- Frame Width: 140 mm
- Lens Width: 66 mm
- Lens Height: 43 mm
- Bridge: 17 mm
- Temple Length: 126 mm
Lenses
Oakley Double Edge lenses are made of patented Plutonite material. Plutonite meets ANSI Z87.1 standards for impact resistance. Plus they also filter out 100% of UVA, UVB, UVC rays, and blue light up to 400 nm. This means your eyes are protected from just about anything that gets thrown at them!
Because of the Double Edge’s big wrap and size, this frame has fantastic peripheral vision and coverage. Honestly, it’s almost similar to what you’d find on a visor lens like the Radar.
Currently, Double Edge lenses are available with a range of options. This includes Oakley Double Edge Prizm lenses that leverage Oakley’s proprietary technology to increase contrast and color. Prizm lenses are also available in polarized and iridium coatings. And similar to the Split Shot, you can find Prizm Deep Water and Shallow Water lenses available in this frame. These are perfect for boating, fishing, or any activity on the water.
