Frame and Design

The Oakley Coinflip features a full-frame design with a similar two-tone front as the new Oakley Parlay.

The frame itself is made of mostly O matter material but there’s no word yet if this frame also has metal elements similar to the Parlay.

You’ll also find Unobtainium nosepads for added grip. But this frame doesn’t appear to have Unobtainium earsocks.

This isn’t uncommon for performance lifestyle frames, but they may also have low-profile earsocks like the Kato X.

Oakley clearly is capitalizing on the round lens trend with two frames in this release cycle, the Coinflip, and HSTN.

Overall after the Deadbolt surprised us with how good they looked on our faces, we’re looking forward to the Coinflip design.

Lenses

As we mentioned above, the Oakley Coinflip features round circular lenses that add to the modern design of the frame.

Similar to other modern releases, every Coinflip colorway comes with contrast-enhancing Prizm lenses. We won’t go into too much detail on how Prizm works here, but for more info be sure to check out our Complete Oakley Prizm Lens guide.

But the most exciting aspect of the Coinflip lenses are the colorways with options including Prizm Sapphire, Prizm Violet, and Prizm Ruby Polarized.

Our Review – Are They Worth It?

The Oakley Coinflip definitely offers a unique look with its round lenses, similar to the Deadbolt and HSTN.

As we mentioned above, we were surprised by how good the Deadbolt actually looked on our faces, so it seems like the Coinflip at least deserves a try.

Overall, this is likely a pair of sunglasses you’ll either love or not. But we’d say if you’re in your local SunglassHut or Oakley store to give them a try – they might just surprise you.

Are Replacement Coinflip Lenses Available?

Yes, replacement Coinflip lenses are available but unfortunately, you likely can’t buy them from Oakley.

Over the last few years, Oakley has reduced the number of models that they offer replacement lenses for. Mostly they seem to sell replacement lenses for sports pairs like Flak Jackets and Radars.

But that doesn’t mean you can’t buy them!

You can buy replacement Oakley lenses from several aftermarket lens manufacturers online. And they’re usually less expensive than original Oakley lenses.

We expect Coinflip replacement lenses to be available for purchase 2-3 months after the model releases.

Where to Buy Oakley Coinflip Sunglasses?

Since releasing in September 2021, the Oakley Coinflip is available at authorized retailers including Oakley.com.

But if you’re looking to save you may way to wait.

You can often find big discounts on specific Oakley frames through their annual sales calendar.

But if you don’t want to wait for a sale, or the Coinflip isn’t included in the latest sale, you’re not out of luck. You can still save 30%+ off new Oakleys through aftermarket sites like our Oakley Forum Exchanges and eBay.
