Oakley Ojector Sunglasses | Ahyris Collection | Review & Guide

Background and Release

The Oakley Ojector sunglasses first appeared online in early July 2021 as a part of Oakley’s quarter 3 release cycle.

Releasing alongside pairs like the NXTLVL, CMDN, and Parlay, it seems like the Ojector name fits right in with a bit of funkiness. There haven’t been any hints as to what the name refers to yet so we’ll have to stay tuned for more there.

This pair is also a part of the Ahyris collection like the Deadbolt and Coldfuse that we’ve already reviewed.

The Ahyris collection is highlighted by a singular round component used to connect the temples to the front of the frame. We’ll dig into this a bit further in our review. But overall it’s exciting to see Oakley continuing with the Ahyris collection.

Frame and Design

The Oakley Ojector features a full-frame design made of lightweight O Matter material. But as a part of the Ahryis collection, this frame still has some surprises.

The design of the frame is pretty standard featuring rounded square lenses. But the frame and earstems still highlight some added curves and edges to give the frame depth.

As a part of the Ahyris collection, the Ojector temples are connected to the front of the frame by a single rounded piece. On this frame, it’s pretty easy to spot since Oakley made this connection silver against the black frame.

You can see this single connector in the corners of the frame in the image below.

It’s pretty clear from the design and lack of Unobtainium earsocks or nosepads that this is a lifestyle frame.

Overall, this is a great full-frame design that reminds us a bit of the popular Frogskins. Regardless, the Ojector is clearly made for the masses.

Lenses

As we highlighted above, the Ojector features rounded square lenses that are similar to the more squared Holbrook.

Similar to Oakley’s other releases in the last few years, every colorway of these sunglasses will feature contrast-enhancing Prizm lenses.

We’ve already reviewed and covered everything to know about Prizm lenses, so we won’t go into too much detail here.

But we are happy to see some awesome lens colors available at launch. Lenses like Prizm Violet, Sapphire, and Tungsten help to add a pop of color to this frame.

If you prefer more toned-down colors, don’t worry you’re still covered. Oakley also offers the Ojector with Prizm grey and Prizm Black Polarized lenses.

Our Review – Are They Worth It?

Starting out, these may actually be one of our favorite frames from the Q3 2021 release cycle.

The Ojector design is definitely tame for Oakley. You won’t find wild styling lie the OTT or even the CMDN here. But there’s still a big place in your lineup for sunglasses like these.

Overall, we’d recommend Oakley Ojector sunglasses for anyone looking for a fun but generic pair of sunglasses to wear every day. And depending on how much fun you’re trying to have you can choose from Prizm Grey all the way to Prizm Violet.

Are Oakley Ojector Replacement Lenses Available?

Oakley Ojector replacement lenses will be available through aftermarket suppliers shortly after release.

Despite almost every modern pair of Oakleys featuring swappable lenses, Oakley has begun to reduce the number of replacement lenses they sell directly.

You’ll still find a variety of sports lenses available, but lifestyle pairs seem to be hit or miss.

But don’t worry, you’re not out of luck.

There are a variety of aftermarket lens suppliers that sell lenses for almost every pair of Oakley produced. We expect these suppliers to sell Oakley Ojector lenses 2-3 months after the frame officially releases.
