Introduced in 2019, the Oakley Deadbolt is part of Oakley’s Ahyris Collection. Ahyris (pronounced Iris) sunglasses have a distinctly disruptive design aesthetic and are held together with a single round element at the front temple.
We’ve already covered the Oakley Coldfuse which is also part of the Ahyris Collection.
Now we bring you the Deadbolt – lifestyle sunglasses with an edge.

Oakley Deadbolt Sunglasses Review
We reviewed a pair of Oakley Deadbolt sunglasses in Satin Light Steel with Prizm Sapphire lenses. And outside of its unique design this pair still had some tricks up its sleeve.
Keep reading as we dive into the frame, lenses and more. Plus what makes these sunglasses so unique.
Frame and Design
When you first get your hands on the Deadbolt you definitely notice the titanium frame and earstems. Overall, the design of this frame is trendy and disruptive.
With the round lenses and edgy earstems design, Oakley’s definitely appealing to a young fashion-forward crowd with the Deadbolt.
But putting the Deadbolt on, we were honestly surprised by how great they looked. While the frame stands out on the shelf, it seems to look pretty decent on the face (at least for a trendy frame).
This isn’t too surprising since the Deadbolt actually started as an eyeglasses frame. Eventually, Oakley realized their popularity and released the design as sunglasses.
Moving onto the frame itself – these sunglasses are made of Titanium and are definitely light on your head. After wearing them all day, we found them to be comfortable thanks to the overall weight and padding on the earstems.
In the comfort and fit department, the Deadbolt also features adjustable silicone nosepads and a three-point fit. All of which are pretty standard on Oakley eyeglasses.
Overall the Deadbolt frame and design surprised us. They were light, comfortable and actually didn’t look half bad on our faces, despite our initial impression of a pretty disruptive design.
Keep reading as we cover the Deadbolt lenses, plus its complete size and dimensions.
Size and Dimensions
The Deadbolt eyeglasses are available in 2 sizes (small and large) which is fairly standard for prescription frames. The sunglasses version of the frame shares the same dimensions as the small Deadbolt eyeglasses (50-19).
Overall this is a medium size frame that can work well across both men and women.
We’ve listed the full dimensions below (small/large):
- Lens Width: 50 mm / 52 mm
- Lens Height: 43 mm / 45 mm
- Bridge: 19 mm / 19 mm
- Temple Length: 134 mm / 136 mm
Lenses
The Deadbolt’s round lenses add to the fashion look of this frame, and work well with square and oval faces.
This frame also includes Oakley Prizm lenses in every available colorway. This is in line with Oakley’s recent campaign to make Prizm the go-to lens for everyday and sports.
We’ve already covered why we love Prizm lenses, so we won’t go into too much detail here. But regardless these lenses are definitely welcomed in lifestyle pairs like Deadbolt.
And like all Oakleys, these lenses are made of made patented Plutonite material. The lenses also highly impact resistant and protect against 100% of UVA, UVB, and UVC rays.
Overall if you’re looking for a more casual look we’d recommend colorways with the Prizm Black lenses or if you’re looking to stand out, Prizm Sapphire.
Luckily the Deadbolt is available in a variety of colorways that we’ve listed in the section below. Plus keep reading for our final thoughts on whether these sunglasses are worth your money.

Final Thoughts – Are they worth it?
The Deadbolt is an edgy, modern lifestyle frame that will appeal to fans of Oakley’s “Disruptive by Design” styles and wearers looking for fashion forward eyewear.
We appreciate the single circular element connecting the temple and stems that’s a signature of the Ahyris style. But it’s not a game changer in our opinion.
This is definitely not a sports pair or even a performance lifestyle model in our eyes. This is a pure lifestyle/fashion frame. If you’re looking for a frame to go between running, hiking and every day you’re better off with O Matter designs like the Gascan or Holbrook.
Overall, we liked the Deadbolt much more than we expected. This is a pair you’re either going to love or not, but if you find yourself in an Oakley or SGH store, try a pair on. You might just surprise yourself (like we did).

Are Replacement Deadbolt Lenses Available?
Currently, Oakley does not carry replacement lenses for Deadbolt sunglasses. But you can still buy them from aftermarket retailers for as low as $30.
Oakley seems to have moved away from offering replacement lenses for many lifestyle models in recent years. This means aftermarket lenses are likely your only option.

Where to Buy Oakley Deadbolt Sunglasses?
You can buy Deadbolt sunglasses direct from Oakley’s website for their $297 retail price. You can also find the eyeglasses and prescription versions through their site as well.
But this is a pair where you’ll definitely want to wait for a sale. Over the last year, we’ve seen the Deadbolt consistently go on sale for 50% off on Oakley’s site.
Typically these sales run over US holidays like Memorial Day, Labor Day, or Black Friday.
If you don’t want to wait for a sale, you can still save big through aftermarket sites. Want to know how?
