I'm surprised you don't have a postal scale. I use mine because I'm always shipping stuff and use PayPal's shiplabel. It asks the weight down to ounces.🤙
Just don't get lazy like me and start learning all the weights and break points in USPS pricing by weight and size and put the scale away cause you know a X metal loose is gonna total about 5-6oz, in a box complete around 9oz, and all plastics run around a total package weight of 4-5oz LOL! Yea I am a human scale! I don't know if I should be ashamed I know this or proud! :pickingnose:

Scales are for sure a money saver with shipping... that and a measuring tape and a good sharp knife to modify the box down to the smallest size possible without sacrificing safe packaging... Most people estimate and end up spending $2 or more extra on shipping not doing these few tricks. Stamps.com will send you a free scale if you sign up to them and pay 1 month of service then cancel LOL! I discovered this more on accident than on purpose. Scales are pretty cheap though. Go buy one for $20 and get one that does both grams and ounces (usually ammo reloading scales)

Heh…small town life. I have a Post Office right across the street and a nice Post Master I like chatting with 😀

Recently a scale would have saved some heartache. I bought a fake myself that I almost passed on to someone else! Had I a scale I could have detected it earlier. These fakes “are” getting scary and too darn close to accurate.

They are THE WORST to have evaluate your package... they ALWAYS round up even if it is 7.2 ounces they go to 8. Do it at home and you can remove a little bit of the box and get it to 7. 1 ounce can cost you $3-$4 depending on service chosen. Since they changed first class package to ground with USPS the weights are a bit more fair... the break points in price are 9 oz and 12 oz and there is a $2 difference between them. Anything below 9 oz is the same price.

Hey O-Teamate…you are making me feel guilty…and lazy! 😉

Man…I pack it well, toss it on the counter with a wad O bills and don’t count my change! Sounds like I been throwing money out the window! 😆💸

My take on shipping USPS, is anything over one pound has to be shipped priority. $15 or more. Anything under a pound will have the First Class option which says four days, but at half the price of Priority. I use First Class when I can because USPS almost never makes the Priority 3 day mail time anyway.
