I'm not sure if there is any difference in the plastic quality used between the LX and the standard. My Frogskins are also LX and the quality is far superior to the Holbrooks i've just received.

There is. In fact they are different materials - the LX Frog and Holbrook are acetate, while the "normal" models of both are Oakley's proprietary plastic, O-matter.

Hi,

I recently purchased a pair of Oakley Holbrook's from Amazon but i've decided to return them straight back as i'm not sure if they are genuine or not.

The plastic feels really cheap compared to my Frogskins, the finish is really bad on the plastic moulding also - there are ridge marks all the way around the frames and lens (from plastic moulding) - all other Oakleys i've ever owned do not have this and the molding is smooth.

Can anyone give me an opinion on these based on the pics below?

Holbrooks are fine, nothing to worry about here. Seen lots of Shaun White fakes, all the fakes have made in USA still on the arm (Should just have the CE or even made in China on some) and never seen a pair with a cloth bag and correct box.

Not sure about those orange lines on the side of the orbitals from the inside view?

The Made in USA looks a bit off but all else fits. It also has the A on the inside of the hinges.

Thanks for the responses, let's hope the LX i've ordered (HOLBROOK LX OO 2048 04) are better quality.

The quality on the standard model is terrible for a relatively high priced product.

I've gone from hate all the way around to love on Holbrooks. It's high priced in the wider world of the sunglasses market, but it's relatively low in quality and pricing when it comes the O-Brand. It is after all, just a plastic pair of sunglasses effectively, but it's the brand and the optical quality (as well as style which some people would put up for debate regarding Holbrooks) you are really paying for.
