Official Fakes/Possible Fakes Inquiry Thread (ARE THESE FAKE? POST FAKES HERE)

Guys, need your expertise. Recently bought a pair of Oakley Catalyst Ferrari from ebay from one top rated seller (theproscloset) with 99.8% positive feedback. I made the necessary comparisons with online pictures to determine that they are authentic but when I received them, the lenses rattle when i shake the frame. Is this normal?

The only pair of Oakley's I've ever had the lens rattle were lenses that were not OEM. I put some Walleva Lenses in my Split Jackets and noticed they rattled right away. It's possible your frames are authentic, the lenses may not be. I would try to see if you could verify the lenses are OEM

Thanks orion. Did a search for non-oem catalyst ferrari lenses and nothing came up. Could it be a bad batch or something? I already emailed my local oakley customer service centre, hope they could shed some light.

Just my thoughts here.....tell me if you think I'm wrong

You purchase this off of eBay which is NOT Oakley and NOT an Oakley authorised dealer.
There is a problem with the lenses rattling.
You email Oakley about the problem? <-----I don't think you will get much help there.

My suggestion? Send them back to the seller as you already have an issue with them and you cannot warranty them.

Buy them directly from Oakley if you can. Can you?

True. Yeah am currently in contact with the seller. Would just rather ship it back, get a refund and just get one from an authorised dealer.

That will honestly be your best bet.

Rattling lenses from an eBay seller would make me paranoid. Rattling lenses directly from Oakley or an authorised dealer would be easier to deal with as they can replace them easily enough and you are sure they are OEM.

Yes, for sure, I agree with Frank, this is starting to sound somewhat fishy. There are some really good fakes out there unfortunately. I was just looking at a pair of gray split jackets selling for $230 which I suspect are fakes. I had asked the seller for a more specific picture of a certain area and haven't received a reply from them yet.

If is smells like a fish and feels like a fish.........chances are..........

Also when buying on eBay make sure seller accepts returns so if you have an issue, you can send them back.

Good luck

Am currently in touch with the seller and thank god they accept returns.

Glad to hear. I've found with eBay you can find good deals on authentic Oakleys. Most of the auctions I look for are used - like new ( aka someone who thought they wanted "xyz" then after a week decided, they really don't and are just trying to get back some of their $$$).

I'm not a collector or a "shelf whore" so lightly used for me is no problem. EBay can be a great source if you fall into this category. It just takes time, patience, and help from our long time forum brethren to sniff out the fakes.

The exchange forum here is also a pretty good place to shop. Again, be patient, due your homework, and you should be able to find good deals without the worry of being duped.
