Official Fakes/Possible Fakes Inquiry Thread (ARE THESE FAKE? POST FAKES HERE)

i have a question about a Pit Boss 1. I am looking at a pair locally and everything thing looks legit. except they do not have the A on the frame when the arms are closed. Person at Vault store said they look legit. I have heard from members on here that all PB1s have the A inside on the frame. Can I get a definite yes or no? Do some PB1s not have the A?

Kind of a gamble when you can't actually manipulate the pair with your own hands to determine whether something is counterfeit.

Its funny to me because I actually do own about 4 pairs of fake Oakleys so I do have a real-time reference.

I can tell you that faking a Radar Path is pretty easy to point out but generally speaking, all fakes have a few things in common: Crummy screws holding the frame together, you don't get that snap effect when opening and closing the ear socks, and the clean cut of the ear arms are usually coarse or looks like a sloppy weld job.

The rest are obvious red flags --- Sheen seen in the lens. Easy to rub off the coating of the lens. Ear socks and rubber will be rough cut.

I imagine someone pointed this out already so sorry if this was an annoying repeat post.

Madman Fakes?

New Oakley Sunglasses Madman X-Metal Dark Carbon w/Prizm DailyPolarized #6019-05

This seller has been selling Oakley's for a while. I see some reports some have received fakes and others whom say the opposite.

I've never purchased anything from this seller but I find it hard to believe they can sell a BN pair of Madmen for $164. That just doesn't sound right.

Well the guy has a near perfect score as far as his dealings with other e-bayers. Well lets put it this way, for the 6 negative comments he got, it would seem that they are reporting a full refund after the fact so from that, I'd say no one looses except for hassal and a return. It would be different if the seller simply didn't reply back and many people were shouting that he never properly re-reimbursed them.

One of my recent buys from E-bay was a pair of EV-Paths that I also thought was pretty low-balled but as I had carefully inspected them, they are very much legit.

Your call my friend, in my view --- its not really a loss due to the seller's record of returns.

If the photos of the madman are actual photos of the seller item, then i can say it is authentic.

Madman frame plastic part for fakes are always black, no fake for transparent, translucent plastic. The are is fitted well, fakes are loose on hinges. Also there is a part of arm the is curvier for fakes. Colorways are off for fakes, and lens with prizm etch is not being copied (yet?) for madman. Having the plastic canister and box also is a great way to tell it is authentic.

Never wrong repeating tell tale signs of fakes, we never now if new enthusiast is lurking, it will be beneficial to them.

I wouldn't trust some dude at a Vault store for PB1 authenticity expertise.

AFAIK they all have the A. Also the edge where the titanium meets the o-matter at the orbital screw is slightly less aggressive on fakes; there's pics around here somewhere.

The overall weight of the pair is also a tell tale sign, if you just rest it in your palm and kind of feel it --- you'll know the difference.

A fake will sound hollow when you hold it as if the plastic frame is hollow inside --- this is because they saved on money and only made as much of the frame as possible.

If you skim your thumb you'll almost feel the acoustic hollowness vs a solid frame from Oakley.

It's called they inject more air into the plastic
